Ahead of the NFL cutdown deadline, the Steelers have released defensive end/outside linebacker DeMarvin Leal, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported Tuesday morning.
Leal was the Steelers’ third-round pick in 2022. Drafted as a tweener defensive end in the Steelers’ 3-4 base scheme, he struggled to establish a role. Leal primarily played outside linebacker in recent years for Pittsburgh.
Leal missed most of the 2024 season with a neck injury. He finishes his Steeler career with six starts in 28 games played,
33 total tackles, and one sack.
Of the Steelers’ 2022 draft class of Kenny Pickett, George Pickens, Leal, Calvin Austin III, Connor Heyward, Mark Robinson, and Chris Oladokun, only Austin and Heyward remain on the Steelers’ roster.
