The Dallas Cowboys are off to work.
Earlier this team held voluntary workouts and that led to a little bit of drama as George Pickens was not in attendance. Thankfully it was all put to bed shortly after as he officially signed his franchise tag.
That was news pertaining to a Cowboys veteran though and Friday is for the newbies. Rookie minicamp begins today and it will offer the first looks of the team’s new draft picks.
Shortly before it was set to begin it was reported by ESPN that six of the team’s
seven draft picks are officially signed to their rookie contracts. Malachi Lawrence is the only outlier.
For those unaware, it was once upon a time a difficult thing for NFL teams to get their rookie contracts taken care of. Everything changed in 2011 when the CBA (the one established at that point in time) introduced the rookie wage scale. Now rookie contracts are more of a formality than anything.
Surely Malachi Lawrence will be taken care of soon enough. As you were.
