Week 2 of the NFL regular season came to a close with a total of 17 Maryland football alumni seeing the field.
Standing out with his Week 2 performance was Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Tarheeb Still. The second year player turned full-time starter, made nine tackles and recorded two passes defended in a 20-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 2024 fifth-round NFL Draft selection played 67 snaps. With the heavy workload, he was graded seventh amongst cornerbacks across the league with an 81.4 Pro
Football Focus grade.
With the Chargers defense dominating on Monday Night Football, the team remains undefeated. They will look to extend that streak at home against the Denver Broncos for Week 3.
2025 rookies
- Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips made two tackles for the Miami Dolphins against the New England Patriots. The fifth round selection saw an increase in playing time by nearly 40 snaps. He was the second highest graded interior linemen for the Dolphins with a run defense grade of 66.7, per PFF.
- Safety Dante Trader Jr. recorded a tackle for the Dolphins against the Patriots. He played 42 total snaps, per PFF.
- Linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II made one tackle for the Chicago Bears against the Detroit Lions.
- Wide receiver Tai Felton saw time on special teams for the Minnesota Vikings against the Atlanta Falcons.
- Center Josh Kaltenberger remained on the Chargers practice squad for Week 2.
- Defensive tackle Tommy Akingbesote remained on the Carolina Panthers practice squad for Week 2.
- Safety Glen Miller and wide receiver Kaden Prather remain unsigned.

- Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore caught five passes for 46 yards against the Lions.
- New York Giants cornerback Deonte Banks made six tackles on 11 snaps against the Dallas Cowboys.
- Indianapolis Colts safety Nick Cross made five tackles in 38 defensive snaps against the Broncos.
- Tennessee Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo caught four passes for 35 yards against the Los Angeles Rams.
- Wide receiver Stefon Diggs caught four passes for 32 yards against the Dolphins.
- San Francisco 49ers defensive end Sam Okuayinonu made one tackle against the New Orleans Saints. Playing 42 defensive snaps, he received a 75 percent grade from PFF.
- Las Vegas Raiders right tackle DJ Glaze started against the Chargers.
- Arizona Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland converted two field goal attempts, with a long of 47 yards, against the Carolina Panthers.
- Cornerback Jakorian Bennett did not record a tackle on seven snaps for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs.
- Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson rushed for six yards on two carries against the New York Jets.
- Atlanta Falcons linebacker Josh Woods did not record a tackle against the Minnesota Vikings.
- Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Corey Bullock did not see the field against the Cleveland Browns.
- Pittsburgh Steelers offensive guard Spencer Anderson did not see the field against the Seattle Seahawks.
- New York Giants safety Beau Brade did not see the field against the Dallas Cowboys.

- Safety Darnell Savage was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday. During the team’s Week 2 game, Savage made one tackle in 42 snaps against the Cincinnati Bengals.
- New York Jets defensive tackle Byron Cowart remained on injured reserve. He could make his season debut in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.
