Willy Hutchinson and Ezra Taylor just recently sat down for a face to face interview with DAZN to discuss their March 28 fight, which all came about pretty quickly. During the conversation Taylor would talk about how he expects to break through with his performance in this outing while Hutchinson says he believes Taylor is easy money to be made while he stays busy, looking for bigger fights to come. Here’s some of what both fighters had to say below.
Taylor on Hutchinson saying he’s easy money in the bank
“Seems like he’s trying to look over me and I’m
the wrong person to look over.”
Hutchinson on his experience over Taylor
“You know, I’ve done it [looked over people before]. I haven’t done a lot, I’m not saying what I’ve done. It’s what I’m ready to do in my career. But whatever I’ve done, I’ve done five times more than you’ve ever done and you’re lucky if you get there yourself and I haven’t done much. How can I sit here and say I’m great and I’m this and I’m that? I’m not, but I believe in another 12 months time I’ll be the best light heavyweight on the planet, guaranteed.”
Hutchinson on how he rates Taylor
“He’s a good, decent British-level fighter. Do I think you’re a world beater? You’re not. You’re in daydream land if you think you are, and that’s the honest truth. People might think the same of me, but the difference is I am where I am and I’m ready to push on.”
Taylor on Hutchinson’s last performance against Jeffers
“It wasn’t that great, I’ll be honest…Where he is in his career, he’s experienced, he should be doing much better…Is he going to have a good performance against me? No. Even if he does it still ain’t going to do nothing anyway ‘cause I’m having better performances, I’m getting better. Essentially I’m earlier in my career compared to him, and I’m just going to keep stepping up and getting better.”
Hutchinson on Taylor
“He’s 31 and he’s had 13 fights. That’s very, very raw. If he was 19, 20, I would say you can go on and do something. 31 and very raw, you can’t change much about you…If I’m 31 year old and I’m where you are, I won’t be boxing. It’ll be time up for me.”
