Anthony Gordon faced the media on Monday ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League tie against Aston Villa and was quizzed on his start to life in Catalunya.
The England international says he’s settling in well but thinks he can improve further and may need to become more selfish.
“I’d say I always demand the same of myself: to score or assist in every match. To be that player who can change the course of the game. I think I can do more and be more selfish. Sometimes I pass the ball too much instead of shooting
or dribbling. I’m here to help and win as many titles as possible,” he told reporters.
Gordon is also bullish on Barcelona’s chances of silverware this season, brushing off recent defeats to PSG in the Champions League and Aston Villa in La Liga.
“I don’t think they’re superior. We have to take responsibility for both defeats, but they’re not above us. We’re a fantastic team and we can beat anyone,” he added.
“PSG had a weekend off and had a big advantage. As for Real Madrid, we should have won; we had possession, better chances, but we were missing something, we weren’t at our best, and it cost us the victory. We learn from this to improve, but I love playing these matches.”
Next up it’s a familiar opponent for Gordon in Aston Villa. The winger has faced the Villans many times in his career so far and will be hoping to shine against Unai Emery’s side.
