The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers renew their rivalry on Sunday, with first place in the NFC West on the line at Lumen Field. In both of Seattle’s Super Bowl triumphs, the Seahawks eliminated the 49ers on their way to winning the Lombardi Trophy. Pete Carroll’s final playoff game with the Seahawks ended in a blowout loss at the hands of Brock Purdy and the Niners. Sunday’s matchup is by far the most anticipated on the Week 5 schedule, and we might even see this showdown again at some point
in January.
This is the first of four consecutive Seahawks games either on national television or as the featured late game in the 1:25 pm PT window. With the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers moved to the 10 am PT window, almost the entire country will get to see Seahawks vs. 49ers as the second half of the FOX doubleheader. If you’re a Seahawks fan in Arizona, Michigan, parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, northern Indiana, and Toledo, Ohio, you have my sympathies.
The 506 Sports map shows a lot of red for Seahawks-49ers, which is the only red I want to see on Sunday.
Kevin Burkhardt, Tom Brady, Erin Andrews, and Tom Rinaldi will all be present for the NFL on FOX, which has billed this as “America’s Game of the Week.” It’s the first time the Seahawks have gotten the lead crew on either FOX or CBS this season.
