It was a good day for Liverpool players around the world who participated in international duty. Hugo Ekitike played 80 minutes and Ibrahima Konaté was an unused substitute in France’s 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan. Ekitike picked up an assist on the opening goal from Kylian Mbappé. France continue to sit comfortably atop a pretty easy group D.
Florian Wirtz played the whole game when Germany beat the 10-man Luxembourg 4-0. Group A is a dead heat. Although Germany is on top, they are tied with Northern
Ireland and Slovakia with six points. It’s only poor Luxembourg who haven’t grabbed a point. Speaking of Northern Ireland, Conor Bradley captained his team to a 2-0 win against Slovakia as well. That will be an interesting group to monitor going forward.
Alexis Mac Allister played the last 12 minutes of Argentina’s 1-0 friendly victory over Venezuela.
The only unlucky player was Alexander Isak. He unfortunately captained Sweden’s 2-0 loss against Switzerland in group B. They’re now last in their group behind Switzerland, Kosovo, and Slovenia.
International action continues this week in the lead up to Liverpool playing against Manchester United on October 19th.
