The old saying goes — life comes at you fast.
For Germany, it was a bullet train. After a disappointing World Cup flame out, the DFB acted quickly and convinced Julian Nagelsmann to resign.
From there the organization put its full focus on Jürgen Klopp, who — just a few weeks ago — was laying out what he would do with the team as a pundit for MagentaTV. Now, Klopp will not have to play “what if” any longer.
Per Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, this is how things took place:
🚨🆕 A first phone
call between DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and Red Bull regarding Jürgen Klopp took place yesterday. Further talks today.
First direct meeting between a DFB delegation, Klopp and agent Marc Kosicke is planned in New York next week. Neuendorf and Hans-Joachim Watzke are expected to attend, with senior Red Bull representatives also a possibility.
No agreement between the DFB and Red Bull over Klopp’s exit yet. Talks are ongoing and expected to continue for several more days. Red Bull shareholders are pushing for a compensation fee.
As confirmed by Klopp himself: he wants to become Germany head coach. And he will.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that it is a done deal:
🚨🇩🇪 BREAKING: Jürgen Klopp as new Germany head coach, here we go! 💥
Klopp has accepted to take over; long term contract details, project and RB Group exit still under discussion, but he will be the new head coach.
RB considered Glasner as replacement but he signs at #NFFC.
Klopp is back.
For his part, Klopp talked about where he is at during one of his recent appearances on MagentaTV.
“About two years ago I left Liverpool and said I lacked the energy to take on a new challenge or to continue for another year at Liverpool. Now I feel fully recovered, I’ve recharged my batteries and I’m ready,” Klopp said (as captured by Marca).
Klopp will almost immediately get to work on figuring out how to right the ship. It will not be easy, but there really might not be a better option. A master with motivation, player management, and tactics, Klopp will be facing a battle to fix all that ails the German national team.
With reports circulating, that the deal is done, fans can start looking forward to the new era.
