What is the story about?

Despite Mike Elko’s insinuation to the contrary on Monday, Texas A&M released a depth chart on Tuesday ahead of their season-opener against UTSA.
There aren’t really any surprises here, and there’s also a ton of “OR”s listed, essentially at any position were the starter wasn’t already a foregone conclusion. But here’s a couple of notes:
- Le’Veon Moss and Rueben Owens are listed as co-starters at RB, while Amari Daniels, EJ Smith and surprise true freshman Jamarion Marrow all listed in the backup role
- Terry Bussey is listed as an “OR” at two WR slots, which tracks with the notion that A&M will use him in multiple ways
- Trey Zuhn is listed as an “OR” at both LT and at C (but with Reuben Fatheree nursing an injury, expect to see Zuhn at LT this week)
- Theo Melin-Ohtrsom is listed as a co-starter at TE with transfers Nate Boerkircher and Amari Niblack. Boerkircher is supposed to be more of the blocking specialist and Niblack is more of a pure receiving TE, so it will be interesting to see how the three are used.
- Dezz Ricks and transfer Julio Humphrey are listed as co-starters at CB opposite Will Lee III.
- Marcus Ratcliffe is an “OR” with Dalton Brooks at safety after serving as a backup a season ago.
We’ll start finding out in just four days how much of this depth chart is actually
true as the Aggies kick off the season at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
