Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across Major League Baseball. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in New York Yankees fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
The Yankees/Red Sox rivalry has missed some pizzazz in recent years with Boston only making the MLB postseason once since winning it all in 2018. And yet despite Red Sox fans’ understandable frustrations with their team in that time, they’ve still won two
championships more recently than the Yankees’ last one in 2009.
The odds are good that both the Yankees and Red Sox will make it to October this year, as they’re both in Wild Card spots with a shot at taking down Toronto for the AL East crown as well. Thus far in 2025, Boston has had its rival’s number, winning five of six games. While we can’t say for sure that their upcoming weekend set in the Bronx from Thursday to Sunday will be a playoff preview, the possibility does exist. They last went head-to-head in the 2021 AL Wild Card Game, when former Yankees righty Nathan Eovaldi outpitched a sore hamstring-addled Gerrit Cole at Fenway.
So with a four-game series at Yankee Stadium on deck, how about a prediction? Vote in the poll below and we’ll revisit the results later this week, when the showdown will have gotten underway.
