Lennart Karl has earned his first ever call up to the German national football team, for the senior team, no less, which saw him skip some of the youth levels. Julian Nagelsmann, former Bayern Munich coach who currently manages the national team, talks about his latest entry to the NT pool.
“I expect him to bring his youthful exuberance to the pitch. He likes to play centrally, but we also plan to use him on the right,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “However, I won’t put
any pressure on him to perform miracles. He should bring exactly what a young player embodies and play football freely and from the heart, as he’s been doing at FC Bayern.”
The recently-turned-18-year-old Karl has impressed for the Bavarians ever since he made his breakthrough earlier in the season. Save for an ill-fated comment and a doomed thumbs up from Alexander Prass, Karl’s future is looking bright.
