When Canelo Alvarez inked an exclusive multi-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh earlier this year, fight fans knew his paydays would be massive, as the influential boxing promoter has been known to shell out hefty sums to big-time prize fighters taking part in the biggest bouts possible.
But when it comes to getting his money’s worth, the jury is still out.
For his Super Middleweight title fight against Terence Crawford, booked for this Sat. night (Sept. 13, 2025) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada,
Alvarez will break the bank with yet another massive payday that is expected to make him one of the highest-paid athletes in all of sports.
While official numbers are not confirmed at the moment, there are some reports that claim Canelo is set to earn around $150 million for the bout. During the recent “Canelo vs. Crawford” pre-fight press conference (see it again here), Alalshikh and Alvarez briefly talked about his upcoming payday, assuring everyone that it is well over $100 million.
Canelo jokingly snapped at one of the press conference reporters for claiming that Alvarez would be making at least $100 million for the fight, questioning why he was lowering his fight purse if he’s fighting for a much higher sum. Alalshikh then gave his two cents by saying the contract was for much more than that.
As for Crawford, some reports suggest he will rake in a measly $10 million for his services on fight night.
On top of their already exorbitant paydays, one of the combatants could potentially walk away with a massive performance bonus, as TKO Boxing’s Dana White also mentioned they are still working on the final number to be given to the winner (by knockout) — or to the fighter who puts on a blistering performance. White insists that payout will be over six-figures.
And let’s not forgot about this shiny new $188,000 belt and the diamond-filled Super Bowl-inspired ring that will go to the winner, as well. That’s what you get when you’re not like Tom and Jerry.
