Few players in recent Georgia football history have been by turns as exhilarating and maddening to watch as Daylen Everette. I’m happy for Pittsburgh Steelers fans to witness first hand exactly what I mean now that the Norfolk, Virginia product is headed to the Steel City. Everette projects as something of a developmental prospect, but with definite starting cornerback potential. He arrives with clear NFL-caliber tools, but some technical refinement still needed. At Georgia, Everette was a three
year starter who appeared in 55 games (41 starts), compiling 150 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 21 pass deflections while earning First-Team All-SEC honors in 2025. His production reflects consistency more than elite ball-hawking volume, though he showed a knack for stepping up in big moments, including multiple SEC Championship interceptions.
That’s to say nothing of the Daylen Everette-shaped indention Quinn Ewers still has in his torso.
Athletically, Everette checks all the key NFL boxes. He ran a 4.38-second 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine, along blasting off with a 37.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-4 broad jump. Those numbers confirm what Bulldog fans have seen on the field: his explosive speed and lower-body power. These traits translate to strong recovery ability and closing burst in coverage. His strengths lie in zone awareness, physicality in run support, and prototype CB1 size (6’1”, 195 lbs), allowing him to disrupt passing lanes and match up with bigger receivers.
However, his weaknesses cap his immediate ceiling. Everette can struggle with hip fluidity and transitions in man coverage, making him vulnerable to sharp route runners and double moves. Everette’s technique can also be inconsistent and occasional lapses in coverage discipline contributed to uneven play (and a full 32% of my game day swearing) during his UGA career.
Overall, Everette’s NFL potential right now is likely that of a scheme-dependent CB2 with upside, particularly in a zone-heavy system. But his physical talent is next level, and his issue isn’t ability, it’s consistency. If he hones his craft Everett also could develop into not just a reliable starter but a potential lockdown corner in the City of Bridges. Until later…
