When foreign players sign for Bayern Munich, they are obliged to undertake a course that helps them understand and speak German. Harry Kane is no exception, and even after three years with the Rekordmeister, he still has a long way to go.
Kane was asked about this and quipped that he saw it coming from a mile away. “Oh, I knew this was coming,” Kane said with a laugh (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “Hopefully I’ll learn more within the next three years than I have in the first three. I’ve
been discussing with Max, the language teacher here, about doing some more stuff. Obviously, it’s more just about confidence now to talk it out. I understand a bit more than before, and I am still learning.
“But I think for me now it’s just to take the step to start talking more, make mistakes while talking, and not be worried about the reaction. I know I keep saying it, but hopefully there will be a time where I can at least do an interview or two where I talk some German. I know the fans would love it, everyone in the club would love it. So I am still learning slowly, but yeah, hopefully it could be something we do pretty soon.”
Kane recently extended his contract with Bayern to 2029.
