Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Jalen Hurts puts Chargers clunker in past, shines for Eagles – ESPN Quarterback Jalen Hurts had a rebound performance in the Eagles’ 31-0 win over the Las
Vegas Raiders on Sunday, tossing three touchdowns with no interceptions following a highly scrutinized five-turnover game just six days earlier. “I wouldn’t want another quarterback, to be honest,” linebacker Nakobe Dean said. “You see a guy that takes so much criticism in every aspect. Since he’s been in the league, it seems like he’s on top of the mountain one day in the public eye and in the next, they’re trying to bury him. And you just see a guy that comes in with the same resolve, the same mindset each week to work and get better. To me, he can’t do no wrong in my eyes. I don’t care what nobody says.”
How Jalen Hurts responded when ‘everybody’s watching’ in the Eagles’ blowout win – The Athletic
Jalen Hurts offered a solution for anyone calling to bench the franchise quarterback: He played so effectively, and the Eagles built such a sizable lead, that the starters were pulled early in the fourth quarter of the Eagles’ 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. That might not have been what those pushing a quarterback controversy had in mind. It was Hurts responding in the way Philadelphia should be accustomed to from the reigning Super Bowl MVP. “Everybody’s watching. It just comes with it, and it hasn’t changed,” Hurts said. “I think everybody needs to remember where I come from and how I’m built. I just want to lead in the right way, set the right example. I’ve done the same thing since I went to University of Alabama and everything that has been in front of me, so it’s no different now.”
NFL Playoff Picture: How the Eagles can officially clinch the NFC East in Week 16 – BGN
Week 15 was a good one for the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only did they snap their three-game losing streak by dominating the Las Vegas Raiders in a shutout win. They also got some help in the form of the Dallas Cowboys, who were 5.5-point betting favorites at home, losing to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night. The Eagles’ magic number to win their division is now down to one. This means the Birds can officially clinch the NFC East in Week 16 by beating the Washington Commanders in Maryland on Saturday evening. If the Eagles lose that game, they can still clinch the NFC East on Sunday if the Cowboys lose at home to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Eagles-Raiders Takeaways With BLG! – The Ringer’s Philly Special
The Eagles blanked the Raiders 31-0 on Sunday, snapping a three-game losing streak. Sheil and Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation discuss the lopsided victory and what this means for the Eagles late in the season. Where are the Eagles currently seeded in the NFC? How did Jalen Hurts perform in this game? What stood out on the defensive side of the ball? Is there a concerted effort to get Dallas Goedert touchdowns in a contract year? Plus, what TV shows are the guys watching?
Nothing like playing Las Vegas Raiders to get a team right – Silver And Black Pride
We all knew this was coming. The Philadelphia Eagles staggered into this game with three straight losses and with a major stink hovering over their offense. Yet, have no fear the Las Vegas Raiders were coming into town. Just like that, the Eagles looked like the team that won the Super Bowl last season. It’s pretty easy when you play the Raiders. They roll out the same game every week. They can’t move the ball on offense. They allow long drives on defense. They are terrible on third down on both sides of the ball. They lose the time of possession battle by a lot and they just don’t compete under first-year coach Pete Carroll. And that what happened Sunday was as the Eagles cruised Las Vegas 31-0. The Raiders are 2-12 and have eight games in a row.

But perhaps even more impressively, the Eagles D only allowed 75 yards. 46 came on the ground and 29 through the air. Yes, the Raiders’ offense sucks (suck-diddily-ucks, even), but that was still as dominant a performance as there has been in the NFL this season. The Eagles have not looked like the Super Bowl team they were last season, but if there’s one thing fans can maybe hang their hat on in hoping the Birds can be legitimate contenders when the playoffs begin, it’s the defense.
Christmas Came Early – Iggles Blitz
The Eagles played good football today. That’s the team we’ve been expecting to see. It is absolutely fair to point out that the Raiders stink. That sure looked like the worst team in the league. They were awful. The Eagles have played a brutally tough schedule. They’ve been tested just about every week. That’s made it tough for them to catch their breath and get some things cleaned up. The Raiders were the “get right game” that the Birds have needed. I wish I could tell you that the Eagles will definitely build on this performance and get into a groove. I have no idea. I do know the team finally had a day when they could go play football and not every second and every play felt like the end of the world. The Eagles were able to have some fun. Saquon has talked about their need to have more joy. They got that today. We’ll see if that helps them to get their heads right and play better football over the final three games.
Roob’s Observations after Eagles take care of business against hapless Raiders – NBCSP
And defensively, just more of the same. Pressure and coverage. For the first time this year, the Eagles over the last few weeks have married pressure and coverage to the point where quarterbacks are really looking overmatched back there. The growth we’ve seen from this defense has been remarkable and part of it for sure is the Jaelan Phillips trade, college teammates Nolan Smith and Nakobe Dean returning after long injury layoffs and Brandon Graham coming out of retirement. This is really a different group than it was earlier in the season. But the guys who have been playing all along have just grown more comfortable in Vic Fangio’s scheme, and the production has been next level. There isn’t a weakness on this defense right now. The Eagles had four more sacks Sunday and eight quarterback hits, and Kenny Pickett just had no chance. The Eagles had 24 sacks their first 12 games and 7 the last two games. Pickett threw for just 64 yards, got picked off by Zack Baun, didn’t have a completion longer than 10 yards averaged a pathetic 2.6 yards per attempt. The Raiders’ 75 total yards are the fewest the Eagles have allowed in 70 years, since they gave up just 49 in a 27-3 win over the Cards at Connie Mack Stadium in 1955. Yeah, it was the Raiders, but 75 yards is 75 yards. Incredible.
Instant observations from Eagles 31, Raiders 0: Jalen Hurts back on track as Eagles win a laugher – PHLY
Bo Wulf: There are a bunch of things the Eagles did today that should allow us all to relax, starting with the defense holding up its end of the bargain against a terrible Raiders offense. How about 37-year-old Brandon Graham becoming the oldest player to record a sack for the Eagles and the oldest to have two sacks in a game since James Harrison in 2015? Of course, the bigger reason for optimism was the improved play of the offense, with Nick Sirianni and Kevin Patullo sprinkling in more under-center snaps, even if it didn’t entirely unlock the running game. Jalen Hurts rebounded from his five-turnover performance against the Chargers to finish 12-of-15 for 175 yards and three touchdowns, including a nice 27-yard dart to A.J. Brown on his final throw of the game. All of that is good and should calm things down here for a week before the trip to Maryland to play the Commanders next Saturday. But … if you want to still get angry, think more about the Eagles turtling with the ball at the end of the first half AGAIN.

It’s safe to say that Brandon Graham is making progress. He contributed a pair of quarterback sacks, both when lining up inside and using his quickness and power off the ball to overpower the offensive interior. The Eagles overwhelmed Las Vegas at the line of scrimmage and Graham worked nicely into a role that includes him coming in and lining up inside to rush the quarterback. Graham has done this in the past, sliding down inside, and he’s had success. The look certainly is something Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio will use from time to time in the final three games of the regular season.
Former President Joe Biden attends Eagles-Raiders game: ‘Go Birds’ – NJ.com
“Go Birds, man, all the way,” Biden told NBC10. “Gotta win the Super Bowl again.” Biden, a Delaware native, is no stranger to Philadelphia sports. He attended Game 2 of the 2025 NLDS between the Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers. He also attended the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots.
Cowboys vs. Vikings recap: Dallas loses 34-26, season just about over – Blogging The Boys
What’s more is that so many believed that they would. Oddsmakers favored them by over a field goal and just a few hours before kickoff the Vikings were formally eliminated from playoff contention themselves. It was as ideal of a situation as you could conjure up. It would appear that there is a more ideal one as the Cowboys dropped the ball and just about ended their season. They are still technically alive, we will talk about that soon enough, but this was when they knew they had to be perfect and they were nowhere close to it. Obviously this is not shocking to anyone who has been following this team all season long. They have fallen short in these types of moments over and over again. Those “types” of moments are just about gone until 2026 following the loss to Minnesota. Any real energy belongs to the 2026 season at this point.
Game Recap: Giants now have 8-game losing streak after Commanders notch a badly-needed road win – Hogs Haven
The Commanders took a 13-0 lead in the first half, and never allowed the Giants to tie or take the lead. Still, Washington made several mistakes, with two turnovers in the 4th quarter to make the win a lot tougher to achieve than it should have been.
4 things we learned from the NY Giants’ 29-21 loss to the Commanders – Big Blue View
Why is Brian Daboll gone and not Joe Schoen? When you watch a game like this, it’s hard not to be struck by the lack of talent at so many positions on this Giants team. I’ll give Joe Schoen some of the credit for getting the quarterback room right this year after last year’s disaster. Russell Wilson (only signed for one year) only had one good game out of three, but with with Dart and Winston (who is on a two-year contract) the Giants are set at quarterback for 2026 and need only to add an emergency QB in the offseason. I’ll also give him credit for grabbing Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy in Rounds 4 and 5, respectively. Neither of them in my opinion will ever be a Jahmyr Gibbs, but as a tandem the two of them are pretty good, and with Devin Singletary form a good and versatile running back room. The Giants don’t miss Saquon Barkley that much. Likewise, I think Schoen has finally created a pretty good offensive line room (with the considerable help of the Carmen Bricillo hiring) although the Giants need to add a guard or two in the offseason. And with Brian Burns (whose contract looks pretty team-friendly now), Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Carter, the pass rush is a team strength, especially if what we saw today from Carter becomes the norm. The rest of the defense, though, is a disaster. If I’m Chris Shula, Jeff Hafley, Lou Anarumo, or Steve Spagnuolo, I’m looking Giants ownership right in the eye and telling them I can’t work with a GM who put together a defense as awful as this. Yes, Daboll gets the blame for the Shane Bowen hiring, but when you look at the defensive tackle, linebacker, cornerback, and safety positions, the cupboard just seems bare even though there are a couple of young players who could mature. At linebacker it’s the result of mostly ignoring the position. In the secondary, though, it’s the result of spending a lot of money and draft picks but poorly. I don’t know if Schoen behind closed doors talks differently than he does before the press, but somehow this team has to get an infusion of talent on the defense to compete. Whether Schoen can be that guy, I don’t know.
Packers Injuries: Updates on Zach Tom, Evan Williams – Acme Packing Company
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein, Green Bay Packers right tackle Zach Tom (knee) and safety Evan Williams (knee) didn’t appear to have as significant injuries as defensive end Micah Parsons (knee) and receiver Christian Watson (chest). At least it wasn’t a squad wipe. Per Silverstein, Tom doesn’t believe that there is “structural damage” to his knee. Tom left Sunday’s action against the Denver Broncos after 25 snaps and didn’t return to the field, leading to [former Eagles offensive lineman] Darian Kinnard taking over as the team’s right tackle for the remainder of the game.
Arizona Cardinals once again get dominated in loss to Houston Texans – Revenge Of The Birds
Outside of [Trey McBride], there’s really not much to like about this team right now. Is it that they’ve taken on the stoic, emotionless personality of their head coach [Jonathan Gannon] and quarterback? It just seems like they lack joy when they’re on the field at this point. Almost like, we are getting paid to be out here, but this is our job and we are going to act like it. I really don’t know how else to put it. This team doesn’t bring us any joy in watching them, and then they don’t even make games competitive. That is not a great combination.
Patrick Mahomes tears ACL in Chiefs’ elimination loss to Chargers, out indefinitely – SB Nation
Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL in the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15. The team confirmed the injury after the loss. Kansas City’s loss to the Chargers also eliminated them from playoff contention. After seven straight AFC Championship Game appearances and three Super Bowl victories, the Chiefs’ dynasty has been fully interrupted. Andy Reid said Mahomes’ injury “didn’t look good,” and that he’ll have an MRI on Monday.
