The Las Vegas Raiders have played three primetime games this season and have managed to go 0-3 in those contests, with each one getting more pathetic than the next. Coming into the Week 11 Monday Night
Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, the Raiders had scored 16 points in their two standalone contests this year.
So, the fact that Pete Carroll’s crew managed to match that total against Dallas could be seen as “progress”, if we’re stretching the definition of optimism to the fullest. But, in reality, a defensive-minded coach like Carroll should be thoroughly embarrassed by his team’s performance on the national stage.
Dak Prescott and the now 4-5-1 Cowboys pretty much got whatever they wanted throughout the night, en route to putting up 31 points and then 33 after their defense got a safety. Also, the scoreboard could have been a lot worse, seeing as Brian Schottenheimer seemingly took pity on his old boss by taking a knee on Las Vegas’ six-yard line before the two-minute warning. For the record, that’s the second time that has happened to the Raiders this season, as Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs did it in Week 7.
There’s no sugar coating it, the Silver and Black were completely outclassed on Monday night, and everyone in the building should be embarrassed, starting with Carroll. As one would expect, the internet isn’t exactly taking it easy on the 74-year-old.
This post from Geoff Schwartz sums up the current state of the Raiders: they’re terrible with no clear path to improve for the long haul right now.
Eleven years after Bill Romanowski’s famous “they suck” rant, it still rings true.
Also, that might have been the worst offensive line performance I’ve ever seen in the NFL.
It’s time to move on from Patrick Graham, too.
