For some teams, the Saturday roster moves are a strong indication of what will happen with their questionable players on Sunday. Cleveland Browns fans are hoping that is true, with CB Denzel Ward and LB Quincy Williams being added to the injury report the last two days, but only one practice squad elevation on Saturday.
For Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans on the road, the Browns did activate RB Dylan Sampson off of injured reserve on Saturday. HC Todd Monken had expected his backup, pass-game
savant back would return this week, and now that is official as Cleveland removed his questionable status as well.
S Grant Delpit also cleared concussion protocol and has no injury status for this week’s game versus the Titans.
To make room on the Browns roster, the team placed OL Teven Jenkins on injured reserve after he missed the first six games of the season and was already ruled out for Week 7.
With Ward and Williams still questionable, it was notable that Cleveland only elevated DT Sam Kamara, his third and final such elevation, and not another defender in case one of the starters is unable to go.
For their part, Tennessee signed DT Timmy Horne to their active roster and elevated RB Kalel Mullings and WR KJ Osborne, which could be a sign that RB Tyjae Spears and WR Calvin Ridley might miss this week’s matchup.
Good news for Sampson and Delpit, and seemingly good news for Ward and Williams. Not a bad Saturday news drop. We still will not have official word on Ward or Williams until the inactive reports come out 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday.
Which of the four good or potentially good news pieces do you think will be the biggest in Week 7 for the Browns?
