The program prepares for a significant roster shift following the 2026 season as a standout trio of sophomores – Karlee Ford, Sami Potvin and Victoria Prado – have all opted to transfer. These three athletes, leave behind a combined legacy of historic athletic milestones and elite academic performance.
Karlee Ford departs as one of the program’s most decorated recent underclassmen, culminating in a standout 2026 season where she earned NFCA Midwest All-Region Second Team and All-Big 12 Second Team honors.
A consistent force, Ford started all 55 games as a sophomore, leading the team with 59 hits and finishing second in RBI with 49. Her season was defined by power and poise, highlighted by ten home runs—including a dramatic walk-off grand slam to defeat No. 22 UCF—and a stellar .983 fielding percentage. Ford’s trajectory was established during her freshman year when she stepped in mid-season due to an injury and never relinquished the starting catcher spot, finishing that season with the highest fielding percentage of any player with over 100 chances.
Though her 2026 sophomore campaign gave her a medical redshirt, Sami Potvin leaves a historic mark on the program’s history books. As a freshman in 2025, she achieved a feat unseen by the program in over four decades by throwing a five-inning perfect game against Grambling State on March 2. In that historic performance, she retired every batter faced and recorded nine strikeouts, the highest single-game total for any pitcher on the staff that entire year. Potvin’s debut season included 17 total outings and a 2-0 record, proving her ability to dominate in the circle early in her career. Beyond her athletic feats, she was a consistent academic performer, earning spots on the Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team and the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Victoria Prado served as a reliable offensive option and a standout representative of the program’s academic standards. Named an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2025, Prado balanced her rigorous studies with steady growth on the diamond. After recording her first career hit and RBI during her freshman season, she expanded her role as a sophomore, appearing in 31 games and making 16 starts as the designated player. Her 2026 season saw her achieve several personal milestones, including a career-high two RBI against Minnesota and a personal-best two-hit game against Houston. Prado was also recognized as a member of the Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team, maintaining her status on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll throughout her tenure.
