Aurelien Tchouameni has become one of the most reliable pieces in Real Madrid’s midfield, and in a recent interview with the club’s official media the Frenchman opened up on life inside the dressing room, his personal interests, and the upcoming Champions League clash with Manchester City.
Tchouameni spoke about his ability to communicate across the squad. “French, English and Spanish.” He explained how he learned them early in life: “Spanish and English I learned at school when I was little. It was four
or five hours every week and now I can say I have the opportunity to speak three languages. It helps me a lot every day to talk with my teammates.”
Away from football, he also revealed a musical hobby. “I play the piano a little bit,” he said, noting he has practiced for four years. His routine includes learning songs through his phone: “I try to improve with my phone and learn new songs. I love it.”
Looking ahead to the Champions League tie with Manchester City, Tchouaméni highlighted the Bernabéu atmosphere. “The Bernabéu in Champions League matches is incredible. We always want to play at home. We know it will be a difficult match, but we have quality and with the support of our fans and our work I’m confident we can do something important.”
He also discussed his tactical role under Alvaro Arbeloa. “The coach has asked me to go forward a little more and I have the opportunity to score more goals. I know what I have to do on the pitch: win balls, try to play with my teammates, give energy and be a leader too… I try to help as much as possible.”
Tchouameni even revealed who has been biggest surprise from training sessions at Valdebebas since he joined. “Ferland (Mendy) in training looks like he’s playing with kids.”
