According to a report from Sport1’s Stefan Kumberger, Bayern Munich is not going to budge on its stance — there is no sale planned for Michael Olise.
Not to Real Madrid. Not to Liverpool. Not to anyone.
Kumberger detailed the latest news on the situation:
According to SPORT1, however, neither Olise nor his agent has approached the Munich club so far to push for a transfer. Consequently, the mood at Säbener Straße remains calm—behind the scenes, people are calling it “summer drama.” Moreover, the facts
are clear: Olise is under contract with FC Bayern through 2029—with no buyout clause. If the club opposes a transfer, it won’t happen. Reportedly, this stance won’t waver in the coming weeks either.
This is also because Bayern has already gone out on a limb with its statements on the matter. Both club chairman Uli Hoeneß and president Herbert Hainer have already dismissed all rumors surrounding Olise and declared him not for sale. Even a 200 million euro transfer fee wouldn’t make Bayern waver, Hoeneß stated in March. At that time, Liverpool FC was rumored to be interested. The Munich leadership therefore has a reputation to protect should they decide to sell at the last minute—and that’s part of the issue as well.
So, is there any out where Bayern Munich could potentially alter that plan? Well, if Olise or his agent go public (or even privately communicate it to FC Bayern) with a desire to leave, it would create a much more complex situation:
As long as no quotes or statements from the player or his agent are made public, Bayern’s strategy is clear: stay relaxed and project a sense of calm. According to SPORT1, the club at Säbener Straße has no intention of giving credence to the current rumors with an official response. It’s an understandable approach; after all, the club would then have to comment on every rumor, no matter how minor.
Bayern Munich not directly addressing the rumors any longer makes sense and isa sound strategy. If, however, you are looking for some kind of crack in this situation, it could be that Olse and his agent have not said anything publicly — or privately (per reporting on the matter). Throughout all of the reporting, there has been nothing that says Olise and his agent have contacted Bayern Munich to make their intentions known. It seems to just be radio silence.
Sure, that could be strategic, especially with potential contract talks coming this season, but it likely would quell the entire situation for Olise or his agent to just tell Bayern Munich this is all nonsense. Truthfully, though, if Olise wants to leave — and Dayot Upamecano is openly lobbying him to stay (as has been reported) — than the Bavarians are already well aware and are plotting their strategy in the background.
Whatever the case, L’Equipe’s report likely will not be the last on the topic of Olise wanting a move to Real Madrid.
