Are you ready to see Natalie Potts and Allison Weidner back on the court?????
Okay, that was a rhetorical question – YES YOU ARE! It is great to see both starters back after knee injuries that kept them out almost two seasons. Potts brings elite defense and the consistent interior offense Nebraska was missing last year. Weidner is no slouch on offense or defense, but what she especially brings is toughness and pace. It means a lot to her to be back after her third knee surgery and I expect the team
to follow her lead in giving the game everything she has to give.
The Spartans are an entirely new team after bringing in 10 new players by their second year head coach after sruggling to a 4-28 record las season. They feature experienced players with at least four upperclassmen in the projected starting lineup. They play in the Mountain West conference and head coach Jonas Chatterton has a great deal of D1 assistant or associate coaching experience. Many coaches get off to a slow start so it would be premature to judge this squad by last year’s record.

Rylei Waugh is the top returning player for the Spartans but she did not play in a 76-74 OT exhibition loss to Cal State East Bay (Oct. 28). The 5-6 redshirt junior guard averaged 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds through nine games with five starts last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Freshman Erika Mace could supply leadership at point guard if Waugh is not 100 percent. She had 11 points, five rebounds, eight assists and five steals in her Spartan debut against the Pioneers, playing a team-high 34 minutes.

Nebraska vs. San Jose State Series History
Nebraska is 3-0 all-time against San Jose State, including a 96-63 win over the Spartans in the most recent meeting at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Dec. 8, 2018.
Numbers to Know
Britt Prince enters her junior season with 975 points, 251 rebounds, 255 assists and 98 steals over 62 games with 62 starts in her Husker career. She is poised to become the 39th 1,000-point scorer in school history.
Jill’s Prediction
I do expect the Huskers to run away with this one but it may be closer than we’d like early in the game as Nebraska works out rotations and plays. San Jose State has talented players but they will be working on chemistry and communication due to all the newcomers. Nebraska 90 SJSU 60
