Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has once again made it clear his club have no intention of selling Julian Alvarez to Barcelona this summer.
The Catalans have made Alvarez their top summer transfer target and are reportedly willing to make one last push for the Argentina international before moving onto other options.
However, Cerezo remains adamant Alvarez will stay and can have a good season in the Spanish capital.
“Barcelona were told from the first moment that we wanted to continue with
Julián and that is what has happened. He is a player of ours and a very important part of the team. We want him to be with us,” Cerezo said.
“I don’t know if Julián will ask for forgiveness but he will win over the fans in two games. He’s a great player. He is an excellent person.”
“I am convinced that Julián is going to have a magnificent season with us. At Atlético what we want is to win the league and we are going to fight for it.”
Barcelona are believed to have other options in mind and it looks like it might be time to switch focus in the final weeks of the transfer window.
