Dean Huijsen stressed the importance of maintaining intensity throughout matches following Real Madrid’s 2–1 victory over Alavés, acknowledging both the team’s strong start and their dip in performance as the game progressed.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the match, Huijsen pointed to the team’s early control but admitted that their level dropped
as the contest went on.
“We started the game very well, and then we dropped off a bit. It shouldn’t happen, but we got the win. The three points were important.”
The young defender also highlighted the challenge of facing teams battling at the lower end of the table, noting that their motivation often raises the difficulty of such fixtures.
“These teams are playing for their lives and giving more than 100%, 200%. And we have to match their desire.”
Despite the uneven performance, Huijsen emphasized that the result remains crucial in the context of the title race. Real Madrid continue to push for the league crown, and the defender made it clear that consistency will be key in the final stretch of the season.
“We have to win every game. We know it’s difficult, but we have to fight for the league title.”
