Ja Morant has been an amazing basketball player but he has caused issues for the Memphis Grizzlies since arriving via the draft in 2019.
He got in big trouble with the league over guns and gun imagery and more
recently doubts have come up about his long-term relationship with the Grizzlies.
In short, in many ways, he’s acted like a classic NBA prima donna, a guy who is immensely talented but whose behavior makes his team question whether or not he’s worth the trouble.
But that talent is absolutely extraordinary and at times he does things that are just breathtaking.
Take this slo-mo video from a game that we think was last season. We think the guy defending him is Cam Johnson when he was with the Brooklyn Nets last season but it’s hard to tell.
Anyway, we’re not sure anyone else could have done this, and that includes Michael Jordan.
This is one of the most beautful basketball things we’ve ever seen. The guy comes in hard to dunk right-handed, reconsiders, and spins. Then he changes hands and banks the shot in with his left hand.
It’s really breathtaking to see, almost closer to gymnastics. It’s just an astonishing display of athletic brilliance that verges on physical poetry.
