The Rhode Island and Richmond women’s basketball teams are a combined 41-6 this season and 22-1 in the Atlantic 10. The only loss there was when the Rams knocked off the Spiders 73-61 back on Dec. 30. The two are Nos. 1 and 2 in this week’s Other Top 25 for a second straight week.
Rhody has won 15 in a row to improve to 21-2. The Rams have not lost since November. They are in the top spot in the ranking once again this week. They defeated Saint Joseph’s and Saint Louis this week to move to 12-0 in the A10.
Tammi Reiss’ team is 47th in the NET and 60th in BartTorvik.
Richmond, which is No. 2 this week, is 20-4 overall and 10-1 in the A10. It has won nine consecutive games since that loss to URI. The Spiders knocked George Mason from the unbeaten ranks in the conference with a 71-57 win Saturday. Those two will meet again one week from today.
Aaron Roussell’s bunch is 41st in the NET and 42nd in Torvik. It is the highest rated mid-major in Torvik and one spot behind North Dakota St. in the NET.
The Bison came in at No. 3 once again in this week’s ranking. The Bison have won 20 games in a row and are 22-2 overall. NDSU is a perfect 11-0 in Summit League play.
Jory Collins‘ team is top 50 in both computer metrics. It is 40th in the NET and 47th in Torvik.
Two of the biggest movers this week were James Madison and McNeese St. The Dukes moved up to 12th and the Cowgirls are two spots behind them.
The computers love JMU. It ranks 52nd in the NET and 55 in Torvik. The Dukes are 18-8 overall and 9-4 in the Sun Belt following four straight wins.
McNeese is on a tear with 13 straight wins. The Cowgirls are 20-4 overall and 14-1 in the Southland. They are 69th in Torvik and 80th in the NET.
Only one team joined the ranking: Massachusetts at No. 25. The Minutewomen are 16-5 in their first season in the MAC. They replaced South Florida.
