Bayern Munich added an impressive performance to their pre-season resume by beating Premier League contenders Aston Villa during their Asian tour. After the match, questions were aimed more towards the upcoming season, rather the match itself. One of many questions was directed towards Bayern Munich’s plans on the remainder of the transfer window.
“Usually when I do the press conferences in Germany I have Max (Eberl) or Christoph (Freund) next to me. I’m not trying to avoid the question, but it’s
their responsibility to look into the market for either exits or incomings. We did a lot of the transfer activity we wanted to do really early. We’re still getting players back [from vacation], our squad will develop from there,” Kompany said on transfer expectations, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
It is not really the place for a coach to always make comments on transfers, but we have seen exceptions to this rule when a manager makes a public cry for the club to spend money to stay competitive. While Bayern Munich hasn’t exactly shaken up the market, they have made calculated moves to make solid signings that will boalster an already elite squad.
While Kompany might shrug seeing clubs like Real Madrid splash the big bucks, Bayern Munich should focus their efforts on selling off excess commodities. There is certainly a portion of the fanbase that wouldn’t mind seeing the club make one more marquee signing though.
