The national championship game might stir up some feelings for Oregon fans. On one side it features a team that beat Oregon twice this year — something Ohio State couldn’t do even as they won the national championship,
and the last time it happened in 2023 the team who did so got their comeuppance in the title game. On the other side is the coach who left Oregon for his alma mater, and many fans felt did so having “checked out” several games in advance and left the Ducks’ own title hunt that year in the lurch … and may be the reason these coaches got their teams to the title game faster than Oregon’s current coach did.
