Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers were officially tabbed as the No. 11 team in the AP’s 2026 preseason Top 25 poll. Just a season ago, the Tigers were ranked No. 9 on the same list ahead of their 2025 campaign.
LSU was slotted just behind another SEC foe as the Oklahoma Sooners were ranked No. 10. The Texas Tech red Raiders followed the Tigers at No. 12. The SEC has nine teams ranked on the poll as follows:
No. 3- Georgia
No. 5- Texas
No. 8- Texas A&M
No. 9- Ole Miss
No. 10- Oklahoma
No. 11- LSU
No. 13- Alabama
No. 20- Tennessee
No. 25- Missouri
The reigning National Champion Indiana Hoosiers ranked at No. 6 while the Big Ten got the first and second overall rankings with Ohio State and Oregon, respectively.
On this year’s slate, LSU is scheduled to face five teams ranked on the poll starting with Kiffin’s return to Oxford against the Ole Miss Rebels in the first conference game of the year for the Tigers. What do you think about the Tigers’ ranking? Should LSU have been higher? Lower?
