Bayern Munich chief executive officer Jan-Christian Dreesen was thrilled to see his team put a 6-1 beating on Atalanta in the Champions League and is not expecting the squad to back off then the Italian power travels to Bavaria.
“We were aware that Atalanta won four of their last five games against German teams, so they were a team that we should take seriously. Vincent and the team, you were well prepared. We were impressed by what we saw in the first half, and honestly, even more impressed that you kept
going, scoring goals in the second half and playing seriously until the end. In my opinion, that’s what sets the real top teams apart. We made a statement today. The door to the quarterfinals is now open, but we’re not there — so I’m certain that you’ll play the second leg with the same seriousness. Also to deliver a top game for our fans at Allianz Arena,” Dreesen said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
When Bayern Munich is clicking on all cylinders like it was in leg one, it is borderline frightening. Imagine knowing that it could actually be more intense for the Bavarians — at home — in the next leg.
Yikes!
