The organization is in a rough-and-tumble battle with the City of Portland over funding for the aging Moda Center arena. Several prominent media figures have started to mutter about the possibility of the team leaving. Normally the summer months involve complete radio silence for the Blazers on the national front. They never get mentioned unless they pull off a big deal. So far in 2026, national columns
and podcasts have been coming out at the rate of about two a week, almost all painting the franchise in a negative light.
