The Los Angeles Rams have won their last two games to get back to .500, but have they done anything yet to make fans confident that the franchise is headed in the right direction?
The Rams have four losses: 49ers 27-7, Denver Broncos 30-26, Buffalo Bills 37-34, and Arizona Cardinals 18-16.
The Rams have four wins: Giants 28-6, Eagles, 24-20, Raiders 35-21, and Chargers 24-9.
The combined record of the four teams that the Rams have lost to is 21-9, and five of those losses belong to the Cardinals. The other
three teams have six wins each and are in first place.
The combined record of the four teams the Rams have beaten is 10-19-1, including the winless Chargers. The Giants are in first place but they have feasted on one of the easiest schedules and worst divisions in the NFL.
If the Rams had defeated a team that is good — and they almost did, twice — the perception of L.A. would be different. However, they didn’t and football is a game where your reputation is decided by inches.
Do you think the L.A. Rams beating the Giants by 22 points is impressive enough to earn respect? Or do they need to beat a good team (something that they literally can’t do until face the Packers on November 25) before praising Sean McVay for winning the last two games?
In my opinion, the Rams don’t have an impressive win this season. If anything, their loss to the Broncos may be more impressive than their wins over the Raiders or Giants. Their loss to the Cardinals may cancel that out.
However, we haven’t seen L.A. at full strength yet.
If Myles Garrett returns this season, it’s like adding a big name at the trade deadline. Davante Adams will be back at some point. Can the rest of the roster stay in tact when it happens? It’s impressive to not be even worse with that many injuries, but the Rams still need a game where they showed up early and finished off a good team before fans can be totally confident in a rebound.
