Barcelona are being credited with interest in Serie A scoring sensation Gustavo Varela who has been catching the eye in Italy with Monza.
Varela has scored nine goals in nine league games so far in 2026-27 since joining the club in the summer from Portuguese side Benfica.
An update from A Bola claims that Varela’s performances have drawn plenty of interest in his services already, with Barcelona joining Arsenal and Napoli in the hunt for the youngster.
Benfica have a clause allowing them the right of
first refusal – and the chance to match any potential offers that come along – but they also have a 20 per cent sell-on clause if he does move.
Varela cost just €2 million plus variables when he moved in the summer but a transfer fee in the region of €40-50m is now being talked about after his red-hot start to the season.
Defence is Barca’s priority right now, but the Catalans may be on the look-out for a striker again soon after spending last summer chasing Julian Alvarez to no avail.
