Kim Min-jae will not feature for South Korea in today’s match against Uzbekistan after missing team training over the past two days.
The official reason given is “accumulated fatigue,” with a national team official confirming in a press release (via @iMiaSanMia) that the Bayern Munich defender has been completing separate recovery training:
Kim Min-jae underwent separate
recovery training for two consecutive days. It is not a major injury requiring his release from the squad, but rather seems to be due to accumulated fatigue from the many matches played recently.
That should come as a relief to Bayern Munich fans. There is currently no indication of a significant injury, and the decision appears to be a precautionary measure to manage Kim’s workload after a heavy run of matches.
For a defender who has dealt with physical issues in the past, giving him additional recovery time rather than taking unnecessary risks is sensible.
