What is the story about?

If
this is the version of Ranger Suarez the Phillies are going to get in October, it’ll make the loss of Zack Wheeler feel that much worse. Strange sentiment, but having a trio as dominant as Wheeler, Cristopher Sanchez and Suarez would have made things so much easier in the postseason, but alas, their chances are still solid without Wheeler.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- According to Bob Nightengale’s notes from yesterday, the Phillies and Twins are going to be playing amongst the corn in 2026.
- If the Phillies are going to make hay in the playoffs this year, they need Aaron Nola to have more starts like he did Saturday, if not better ($).
- By the numbers, Kyle Schwarber has a strong MVP case this season. By position, he might be fighting an uphill battle.
MLB news:
- Mick Abel made his debut this weekend for the Twins. It did not go well.
- The Orioles’ owner says they have the bucks to do more extensions for their players. I’ll believe that when I see it.
- Alright, maybe now with Wheeler out, I’m willing to budge on who the best pitcher in the game is right now. It’s Paul Skenes.
