The NFL trade deadline is on November 10. The New York Jets are 2-6. Guess what? They are sellers! At least, that’s the opinion of Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, who labeled the Jets as such.
“It won’t quite be at the level of a year ago. The Jets don’t need to trade any of their star players. Garrett Wilson said recently he did not plan on asking for a trade — and there isn’t a whole lot of logic to trading him for a team that intends to incorporate a rookie quarterback into the offense next year and already
has plenty of cap space and draft capital,” Rosenblatt wrote.
“The Jets’ sale is more likely to be at a smaller scale, with veterans who don’t project as future pieces for a rebuilding team,” Rosenblatt explained.
This is the appropriate decision. If players don’t have long-term futures with the Jets, they should flip them for future capital. Strip this thing down and make this job more attractive for the next HC of the NYJ.
Don’t touch the young pieces with upside that you believe in. Teams can call on those players, and you have the right to hang up Darren Mougey, but everyone else should be available for the right price.
