Placing the blame on one player or coach after the Cleveland Browns were controlled by the New England Patriots in Week 8 would be unfair. The failure was overwhelming, to be honest, outside of DE Myles
Garrett. As is true with good teams and bad teams, the quarterback position will always get a load of extra attention.
In Week 8, Browns starter Dillon Gabriel completed 21 of 35 passes for 156, including two touchdowns, one early and one late, and two interceptions. Cleveland’s offense could rarely get things going with New England loading the box, unafraid of Gabriel’s arm.
Shedeur Sanders’ taking over will be the conversation heading into the Browns Week 9 bye week, but HC Kevin Stefanski made it clear that he was not making a change at quarterback:
With the NFL trade deadline coming up on Tuesday, following Cleveland’s off week, the Browns roster could be quite different when the team takes the field again in Week 10, against the New York Jets, but Gabriel will still be leading the offense.
