The Dallas Mavericks (15-26) play the second night of a back-to-back against the Utah Jazz (14-26) on Thursday night as game three of a four game homestand. Dallas lost to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, while the Jazz fell in a close one against the Chicago Bulls. These two teams are bad and they’re missing lots of key players
Heres the main things you need to know before tipoff.
- WHO: Dallas Mavericks vs Utah Jazz
- WHAT: A midseason tankfest
- WHERE: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
- WHEN: 7:30 pm CST
- HOW: KFAA Channel 29, MavsTV streaming, NBA League Pass
The injury report for the Dallas Mavericks grows comically longer. Beyond the core four (Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving,
Dereck Lively, and Dante Exum), we have both Cooper Flagg and Max Christie as doubful. The former sprained his ankle for the second time in two games and the latter is still sick. Daniel Gafford is somehow questionable after hurting his ankle AGAIN. PJ Washington is as well. Each should probably not play due to how their injuries seem to only get worse, not better. For the Jazz, Lauri Markkanen is sick and won’t play. Georges Niang and Walker Kessler are out as well.
This game might be unwatchable. I don’t even know what to say here, so that stinks.

I find myself oddly excited about this game. There shouldn’t be much rim defense, so look for both Cooper Flagg and Aaron Gordon to attack the paint like mad men. Whoever can protect the paint and rebound should win, but you never know when a team will have a three point shooting bonanza.
Consider joining Josh and me on Pod Maverick live after the game on YouTube, we should start LATE. Thanks so much for spending time with us here at Mavs Moneyball. Let’s go Mavs!
