Following last week’s 24-13 loss at Oklahoma, the Michigan Wolverines return to the Big House looking to rebound before Big Ten play gets rolling. Interim head coach Biff Poggi will be on the sidelines as Sherrone Moore begins serving his two-game suspension, adding an interesting wrinkle to a team eager to reset after a frustrating showing in Norman.
Central Michigan, meanwhile, enters Ann Arbor 1-1 under first-year head coach Matt Drinkall. The Chippewas opened the season with a narrow road win
over San Jose State but were outmatched last weekend in a 45-17 loss at Pitt. The program is also leaning on a unique three-quarterback system and a ground game led by running backs Nahree Biggins and Trey Cornist, though both struggled mightily against the Panthers.
Michigan owns a 4-0 record all-time against Central Michigan, including a 59-9 win the last time they met in 2013. The Wolverines are also 36-1 all-time against MAC opponents, with all 37 games being played at Michigan Stadium.

Today’s question: Can Bryce Underwood and Michigan’s offense find their rhythm before Big Ten play?
Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood looked poised in his debut against New Mexico but struggled against Oklahoma’s pass rush. With Central Michigan’s defense already giving up big plays through the air and struggling to stop the run this year, this game provides an opportunity for Underwood, running backs Justice Haynes and Jordan Marshall, and the Wolverines’ offensive line to build some confidence.
If the Wolverines can clean up their protection issues and create more consistency in the run game, this should be the kind of rebound performance that sets the stage for conference play. The question is whether they’ll take full advantage of the opportunity.
