Gerard Pique says Real Madrid would “love to have a Lamine Yamal” and is expecting criticism of the youngster from Los Blancos of the Barcelona teen.
Yamal stoked the fires before El Clasico with some comments
about Madrid which apparently didn’t go down too well in the Spanish capital.
Pique has now had his say on the situation and thinks the world should lay off Yamal.
“Let’s accept Lamine for who he is. Obviously, he’ll gain experience. No one is the same at 18 as they are at 38. Lamine Yamal is very special. If they criticize him at Madrid, it’s understandable,” he told Jijantes.
“They’d love to have a Lamine. Lamine is special. We don’t know how long we’ll be able to enjoy him. Let’s not get rid of him. In today’s football, you have to take care of yourself. All the players who come up now experience football differently. But they take care of themselves. We have to accept it.”
“If you lose against Madrid, they always hit you. I don’t know what will become of Lamine. He has the opportunity to break away from everything. Where he came from, the merit this kid has… it’s outrageous.
The rivalry between Barça and Madrid has always existed.“They’ve told us we stole, and we’ve told them. The only line that was crossed was Mourinho’s finger in Tito’s eye. We’ve changed in recent years, and Barça is doing well in these matches. Madrid isn’t doing too well either.”
The two teams meet on Sunday afternoon at the Bernabeu, with Barca knowing a victory will send them top of the pile.
