Axel Disasi failed to secure a move away this summer and he looks set to be consigned to the Bomb Squad for at least the first half of the season before, presumably, trying again in January to find a solution. But in the meantime, according to the BBC, Disasi has his sights set on something a lot closer to home. Namely, he’s hoping to “prove himself [and] impress and get back into head coach Enzo Maresca’s thinking”.
Doable? It seems quite unlikely at the moment, with the 27-year-old not at all involved
with the first-team even after Levi Colwill’s injury, but never say never, I suppose. Disasi’s just a call (and a few feet) away should we experience further emergency at the position.
In related news, as per The Athletic, Chelsea’s reluctance to dip into the transfer market following Colwill’s injury is down to protecting the pathways for Mamadou Sarr and Aaron Anselmino. The two young center backs are both out on loan, at RC Strasbourg and Borussia Dortmund, respectively, but apparently could be recalled in January if for some reason we “struggle” with the currently available personnel.
