Robert Lewandowski scored his first goal of the season on Sunday as Poland beat Finland 3-1 in World Cup qualifying.
The Barcelona striker has only played 26 minutes for his club so far this season, after picking up an injury ahead of the start of the new campaign, and is yet to get off the mark for Hansi Flick’s side in two substitute outings.
However, he looked sharp on Sunday night when he made it 2-0 to Poland in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
The veteran was sent running through on
goal, chested down the pass and then calmly fired the ball past goalkeeper Jesse Joronen.
It’s a good moment for Lewandowski and a goal that will hopefully be the first of many in what looks to be his final season with Barcelona.
The 37-year-old has admitted he’s likely to play a reduced role this season as he heads towards the end of his contract at the club.
