Picture it.
Your best friend in the world awakens from a 20-year coma and you invite them over tonight for the big football game. Your friend was a massive college football fan before the coma, an even bigger fan than you in fact, and you have to get them up to speed before kickoff.
“Miami’s playing in the national championship tonight, against a college football powerhouse that wears red and white,” you tell them.
“Oh okay, so they’re playing Alabama?” they ask.
“No not quite,” you tell them. “The other
traditional college football power that wears red and white.”
“Ohhhhhhh, they’re playing Oklahoma, okay got it.“ replies your friend.
“No,” you say back. Realizing you’re not being very helpful you try and narrow it down. “Think about a team that wears red from the Big 10.”
“Ohio State? That Big 10 superpower that wears red?”
“Nope!” you reply happily. “You’ve been out of it for a while (insert friend’s name here), Miami’s playing Indiana.”
Your friend goes back into their coma.
Tonight the college football season comes to a close and it’s maybe the most unlikely championship game ever? The undefeated Hoosiers of Indiana roll into Miami looking to cap off a perfect season. Standing in their way is, well, Miami who is quite literally playing a home game.
I’ll be happy with either outcome. This 2025 Hoosier team is maybe the best story in college football history. On the other hand, from an early age my dad instilled into me a secondary love for the Canes that still exists to this day. I was in elementary school when those early 2000s Miami teams were kicking ass and taking names, so this is really the first time I’ve ever seen the Hurricanes play on the biggest stage.
I don’t know how you can root against Indiana. More importantly, I don’t I know how you pick against them. The Hoosiers aren’t just a cute story, they’re Terminators that have been beating the hell out of everyone this year, and they’re just one win away from immortality. I think they get it done.
Final prediction: Indiana 31, Miami 21
