Trick Williams has done very well for himself during his first year on the WWE main roster. His in-ring work can certainly be better, but the man almost always comes off like a big star, at least when he’s not losing championships to Baron Corbin.
During an interview on The Tap Out Tea, Trick discussed some of the best advice he’s received about how to succeed in WWE, courtesy of Hall of Famers Booker T and HBK. The general goal is to look like a star and make the fans lose their minds.

emphasizes always looking good for the camera. If you’re gonna put somebody in a headlock, make sure you lock in that headlock so your bicep is pressed up against their forehead, and all the cameras can see the veins and everything in your bicep. It puts the emphasis on just being cool, emphasis on being a star…
Shawn Michaels always emphasizes just put out the best match period. Make sure the people are chanting. Make sure the people are yelling, making noise. That’s the most important part about the business. Some people get worried and caught up in the wrong things. The only thing that matters is the people really going crazy. So I try to stick to those things.”
HBK’s advice about loud fan reactions sounds like one of those obvious ‘easier said than done’ things that all-time great pro wrestlers have done, but can’t necessarily teach others how to do. Like, sure, just go out there and have the best match and gets the fans to go crazy for you, because that’s the most important thing in the business. No sweat, Showstopper.
