We’re in for a doozy this weekend, as the Michigan Wolverines go back on the road to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Two superstar quarterbacks facing off in hopes of a College Football Playoff spot and potentially even a conference championship.
You’ll have to dial your TV up to a different network this week, as Michigan is on CBS for the first time in 2025. With plenty of excitement and a ton on the line, here’s what you need to know heading into this contest.
No. 21 Michigan Wolverines vs Nebraska Cornhusker

Nebraska is off to a hot start to open
2025. Dylan Raiola played in front of his muse Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and even avid football fan Taylor Swift in the Huskers’ Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium. Since then, they outscored Akron and Houston Christian, 127-7, over the last two weeks, while Raiola has racked up 829 passing yards and eight touchdowns.
But no one is buying it yet. Despite the 3-0 start, Nebraska is not only unranked, which is puzzling for a blue blood program, but is also 2.5-point underdog to the Michigan Wolverines without their head coach and a five-star true freshman quarterback who struggled mightily in his other road start two weeks ago. The lack of confidence from the polls (Nebraska earned only 24 votes from the coaches) and Vegas is pretty telling.
Part of the reason Michigan is favored must be because of how the Wolverines came out last week and absolutely dismantled Central Michigan. It was perhaps the most impressive displays of dominance over the weekend, as Michigan uncorked more than 600 yards of offense.
The key was that Underwood was not only allowed, but encouraged, to use his legs. It opened up an entirely new element on the offense, as he led the team with 114 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. That change came after it was one of the top gripes from analysts and fans in the loss to Oklahoma.
As Michigan preps for Nebraska, interim head coach Biff Poggi continues to say Underwood can do as he pleases offensively. Expect Matt Rhule and the Huskers to be really aggressive and put pressure on Underwood akin to what Oklahoma did in Week 2.
It feels like there is positive momentum for the Wolverines, and offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and Underwood were in lockstep a week ago. There will be folks saying Nebraska will win this game, but I think the Wolverines have enough talent to get in front and stay in front for the course of this game. They’ll win, but I like the over even more.
