Following the 2025/26 season, Vincent Kompany became the first Bayern Munich manager since Pep Guardiola (2013-2016) to hold the position for a full 24 months. It was a surprising result, especially considering many of them have won major titles at other stops. Carlo Ancelotti, Niko Kovač, Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann, and Thomas Tuchel have all held high profile posts since leaving Bayern under less than ideal conditions.
A big reason for the unfortunate run was the power struggle between the management
team and the coaching staff. It has not been perfect since Kompany took over the reigns but there is clearly a better alignment at the club.
According to Julian Agardi and Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern is ready to offer a contract extension to a key executive.
In addition to Eberl, Jan-Christian Dreesen is also set to extend his Bayern contract. The talks with the CEO will take place this week as he did not travel to Asia. The contract duration and the salary will also be discussed at the supervisory board meeting. The renewal has also been approved by the presidential committee. It has been noticed by the club’s bosses that the cooperation between Eberl and Dreesen has improved. Both led the negotiations with PSV for Ismael Saibari together. As for Nathaniel Brown, Eberl has been credited with the major part of the transfer.
This level of continuity and consistency bodes well for a club that was beginning to become a bit of a toxic situation. Kompany’s presence has ushered in a renewed sense of camaraderie that will propel Bayern toward more titles for the rest of the decade.
