It’s Week 6 and the Washington Commanders are traveling west to play the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. The Commanders are big underdogs in this critical primetime game, and need a win to keep any hope for this season alive. The 49ers are one of three undefeated teams left in the NFL at 5-0, and are considered one of the best team’s in the NFL.
The Commanders tied with the Giants last week, putting them at 1-3-1 for the season, and in code red territory before their Week 7 bye. The Niners
are coming off a brutal division win over the Seattle Seahawks, the reigning Super Champions, and the only team Washington has a win against this season. San Francisco continues to be one of the most injured teams in the NFL, but they have overcome to stay on top.
The Washington Commanders injury report continues to be impressively long, and that will affect this week’s game and roster. Four players were ruled out by head coach Dan Quinn after Saturday’s practice. Bill Croskey-Merritt (groin), DE Charles Omenihu (groin/ankle), OLB Javontae Jean-Baptiste (pec), and QB Marcus Mariota (MCL sprain) won’t travel with the team. RBs Rachaad White (shoulder) and Austin Ekeler (chest) have also been limited in practice this week. WRs Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs have both been dealing with hamstring injuries. McLaurin played last week, but Diggs didn’t. They’re both expected to play this week, giving Jayden Daniels another target.
This game could lead to a lot of possible short- and long-term changes for the Washington Commanders. If they pull off the upset, hope for their season remains due to a weak NFC East. If they lose, the season becomes more bleak, but Dan Quinn likely plays out the string before an offseason of change for the franchise. If they have another embarrassing loss? Anything can happen after that.
We’ve got some prop bets from FanDuel Sportsbook for Week 6’s game that will be fun to follow.
