It’s no secret that one of the biggest “elephant in the room” type of subjects for the Cleveland Browns has been whether or not the organization should take a chance on selecting Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby in the supplemental draft after he recently decided to declare for it.
Though there will always be an argument for both sides of the equation, it’s not hard to see how adding a quarterback to the roster of Sorsby’s caliber could probably be a good thing for Cleveland.

What an expert is saying
At 6’3″, 235 pounds, Sorsby has excellent size-adjusted athleticism, velocity generation and angle freedom, and he’s a keen creative mind who flashes stellar layering ability and situational precision on drive throws. Right now, he’s a developmental QB prospect; he still has a higher echelon to reach as a processor and anticipator, and his release mechanics and dropback discipline can be lax at times, but he has nonetheless has NFL starter upside.
Fit with the Browns
The fit is pretty obvious with Sorsby in Cleveland. There’s a very good chance that if the whole gambling thing didn’t come to light, Sorsby would be one of the top-ranked signal-callers in the 2027 NFL Draft and somebody that the Browns would love to get their hands on.
Realistically, Cleveland is likely one of the teams that are heavily considering throwing their hat in the ring for the talented quarterback in the supplemental draft. He’s an incredibly mobile quarterback who possesses ideal size and arm talent, while showing the ability to be laser-focused in crucial situations at Cincinnati.
Browns Player Drafting Could Impact
Every player in the QB room not named Deshaun Watson. If the Browns decide to take a chance on and “win” Sorsby in the supplemental draft, then it likely means that one or more of Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and/or Taylen Green won’t be on the team when week one rolls around.
Todd Monken usually likes to keep only three quarterbacks on the roster, and a QB room of Watson, Sorsby, and Sanders likely gives the team the best shot to win going forward.
