Vincent Kompany addressed the media ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League showdown with Real Madrid, touching on team news, the challenge of the Bernabéu, and the difficulty of facing Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
On Harry Kane’s condition, Kompany emphasized the striker’s preparation in recent days.
“The important thing is that Harry Kane has been working hard these last few days. I don’t think he’s lost his rhythm. Everyone is here except Sven Ulreich. We’ll wait until tomorrow. Once we have the latest
information, we’ll make a decision. We have a very good squad for the match. The most important thing for us right now is that Harry is available.”
Kompany also acknowledged the magnitude of the occasion, describing the Bernabéu as the most difficult venue in European football.
“I think the Bernabéu is the toughest stadium to play in away from home in this competition. My feeling is that we have players with experience in these kinds of matches. It will be a tactical game, but the details will be key. We’re expecting a Real Madrid side that City played.”
With little separating teams at this stage of the competition, Kompany emphasized the importance of balance and execution on both ends of the pitch.
“At this level, every team is dangerous. We don’t want to concede any goals and we want to score at least one. There’s no specific game plan against a team like Real Madrid. We have a lot to manage. I hope we have enough solutions in reserve.”
Finally, when asked about the compatibility of Real Madrid’s attacking stars, Kompany offered brief praise while keeping his focus on his own team.
“I can only say that both Vinicius and Mbappe are incredible. The rest is Real Madrid’s business… I have enough problems with Bayern.”
