We’re back with Episode 197, where we discuss Mauricio Pochettino returning to the USMNT, the schedule for the USMNT and USWNT in September and October, and an update on FIFA’s growing pile of problems.
First off, Poch is back for another World Cup cycle to lead the USMNT. But now that’s he’s signed on for four more years, what needs to happen? What’s next for the USMNT? Poch will have to balance keeping the player pool ready to go while actually playing to win in the upcoming regional tournaments.
The expectations are higher now.
We also discuss the September-October window for the USMNT and the October window for the USWNT. The women taking on #1 Spain in two matches is a big test, and the USMNT will get back into the swing of things with four friendlies.
Then, we get into all of the FIFA mess that has plagued the sport over the past couple of weeks, including Gianni Infantino’s attempt to privatize the World Cup and the response from confederations around the world. Infantino’s time should be done because he decided money and power was more important than the soccer.
