Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu suffered a minor groin strain during a 24-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Commanders beat writer Ben Standig reported on Monday evening.
Citing sources, Standig characterized the strain as mild and that his availability for a Week 2 clash with the host Dallas Cowboys is to be determined.
Luvu played 29 snaps
before suffering the injury, and was replaced by Leo Chenal. The veteran is a team captain and a green-dot-wearing defensive play caller.
Rookie Sonny Styles took over as the defensive field general in that game and would do so again if Luvu is unavailable.
Head coach Dan Quinn will update injuries from the Eagles game during his Wednesday press conference.
Also, defensive back Tyler Owens (ankle) said in an appearance on NFL Network that he would be okay.
